My Dream Job as a Bra Advisor – Reflections on Working in the Service Industry

by Shevon Simon, UK

Small changes in the workplace and no more tears at the toilet!

I stopped working long hours, which left me feeling exhausted. I began to notice when my body would feel that it had come to a place of ‘enough’ work and slowly, slowly I chose to listen to this and stop working, rather than push through. This left me with more space in the evenings to be with myself rather than driving myself with work. As a result I felt more vital on the following day and consequently, more productive in lesser hours – a ‘win win’ situation for myself, my organisation, my clients and my colleagues!

I consistently took an hour lunch break and went for a walk at lunch time. Then one day I noticed that I was only visiting the bathroom to pee and there were no more tears. It’s been many years since I cried in the toilets, but I haven’t stopped there. I’ve continued with the changes I made here and continue to make small adjustments. I’ve changed the way I work by arranging appointments during the day when I know I am at my best and taking care of how I work e.g. tapping gently on the keyboard. What I have noticed is that the FUN has now come back into my days. I have FUN with my clients, even in their serious situation. I thoroughly enjoy giving them the best advice; I tell them their options without any smokescreen and let them know ALL of their choices as far as our service goes. More and more, regardless of the choice they make, I am enjoying the interaction and time spent with them.

That zest for life has returned – all because I have taken the time to reconnect with that self care and nurturing within and accepted that the qualities I bring to the world are more than enough. I am not comparing myself to anyone else. I work in a team where we all bring different things to the team and work in different ways, and because I have owned how I work and how I now live and bring this to my day, there is no need to compare myself or be like anyone else.

I no longer crave for my Bra Advisors post as I am living that joy every day in my current role.

Some team members have more experience or knowledge than I have and I draw on this when needed for support. A colleague recently asked me how I keep so chirpy as she registered that I was not beaten down by the office politics: I spoke with her about my lifestyle and in particular, how I take care of myself and my early nights.

THIS is what having the Esoteric Breast Massages has taught me:

I AM ENOUGH

I AM VALUABLE just as I AM and

I can ENJOY whatever another brings without having to change who I AM.

This understanding has not come through words but by connecting to the Love and deep care presented by the esoteric healing practitioner. This same Love and deep care I could feel within myself –when I stopped denying it. I can only rest in this TRUTH. This brings much ease to my body. I actually feel connected to my breasts: I take time to check in with them, particularly at the beginning and end of my days, just noticing how they feel. The lumps have never returned and my breasts are feeling softer and softer. I absolutely LOVE MY BREASTS.

My clients not only receive the passion I bring to my role but the deep passion and Love I am beginning to feel for myself and ALL of humanity. Now that to me is what TRUE SERVICE is about.
