Our Cycles – Period and Full Moon Diary App – Celebrating My Period

Attending a Women’s Group meeting

Recently I attended a women’s group and it was so supportive in so many ways. One of the things I have come away with and really put into practice is the use of Our Cycles – Period and Full Moon Diary App.

My observations from the meeting

I downloaded the Our Cycles App when it first came out and I had been using it every now and then… when I gave myself the permission and time to write things into it. It’s such a great App; the problem was I didn’t really feel that I was great enough to give myself the time each day to jot things down.

Women at the meeting shared how they used it – or their lack of use – and it really exposed my own. Since then I have been enjoying taking the time for me, to write down how my day was, and with all the different options for moods and feelings I have become aware of how awesome I feel most of the time… instead of heavy, sad, needy or such.

Ahhh….. the day before my period!

The other day, I was feeling needy:

  • I had been on the first date I had been in ages and was wondering if the guy would call me
  • I was feeling anxious about a job interview I had been to
  • I was getting short tempered with my daughter

Then I felt to check in with my app… and this gave me a moment to check in with me! And what I realised in those 2 minutes, which really doesn’t take much time out of your day… is that it was the day before my period. I then realised that this pattern of mine is like an old record that plays out the same tune every month at the same time. I then felt into that and thought, whoa, that’s not really me, that’s just an old pattern, an old habit that I do without even realising it. In that moment I connected back to the fact that I am amazing and if the guy from the date didn’t reply that didn’t mean I was anything less, that there was no need to be anxious about the job, and it was definitely not the best way to communicate with my daughter. I felt so relieved when I had noticed the pattern and then chose to change it and not accept it anymore.

Celebration!

I almost had to jump up and dance around the room to celebrate. I felt to celebrate that I am not stuck in those patterns and habits and all that is needed is awareness.

Since then, I have been taking more time each day to just jot down things: it feels great to know that I am building a foundation and awareness so that each month I can see if I am stuck in an old pattern or if I am truly feeling and choosing what is right for me in that moment.

Our Cycles App is Awesome!

Thank you Natalie Benhayon for creating the Our Cycles app – such an awesome supportive tool for women and men alike!
